One of two cartoons produced by the Van Beuren Studios based on the Amos 'n' Andy radio series (1928–1960). (This film is frequently listed as "The Rasslin' Match" but "Rassling Match" is what appears on the title card of this print.)
In this film, George "Kingfish" Stevens once again lures the two title characters into a get-rich-quick scheme: In this instance, for Andy to wrestle Bullneck Mooseface for the Championship of the World.
Amos 'n' Andy was an American radio and television sitcom set in Harlem, Manhattan's historic black community. The original radio show was created, written, and voiced by two white actors, Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll, who played a number of different characters, including the titular Amos Jones (Gosdon) and Andrew Hogg Brown (Correll). They also voiced the characters for the Van Beuren cartoons.
This print was found as part of a collection assembled by Official Films, a home movie distributor founded in 1939 to produce educational shorts but after buying the Keystone Chaplin library, the company found itself in the home movie business.
Print was a generous donation by the Mineral County Museum of Hawthorne, Nevada.
